Mahai Metak - MONDO ANALOGICO

ENGLISH

X.I. -A metaphor through which, in a table top instrument, some kind of wooden chopping board, made of metal, wood, electronic circuits, I was able to express the idea, the essence, of  what should be an UN- Instrument for me. The Mahai Metak is a table top guitar, mine in particular is equipped with  10 strings, it’ s a completely handcrafted instrument concieved with Martino Lunardelli - Lunart      www.lunart.it

X.I. -There ain’t just one way to play the Mahai Metak, this is the most important thing, it’s up to the fancy of the player, everybody can play it its own way.

X.I. -After building the first Mahai Metak, I stopped playing guitar for two years, as a choice ... even if I am a guitarist I didn’t even touch an electric guitar for two years.

X.I. -There are also some electronics inside: an oscillator and a fuzz, that allow you to manipulate the sound without external fx.

M.A. - The pick ups, were they built specifically for it?

X.I. -The Pick Ups are hand-made by Jason Lollar
www.lollarguitars.com
who is one of the greatest manufacturer of artisan pick ups.
The magnets originally were thought for the old 8 and 10 strings pedal steel guitars, instruments widely used in country rock and western music.
I adapted them because 10 poles magnets are almost impossible to be found on the market.
And I used these because they’re very high quality pick ups.

M.A. - While the internal circuit?

X.I. -The internal circuit was designed by me, it’s very simple: tone and volume pots, pick up selectors
and the possibility to interact with the fuzz and the oscillator in real time.

M.A. - The oscillator and the fuzz, were they specifically designed too?

X.I. -No, the oscillator and the fuzz are a pre-existing pedal, it’s a pedal I felt very comfortable with  about four years ago, I just took the circuit out of the original chassis and put into the instrument.

M.A. - Totally Rad!

ITALIANO

(ndr: www.lunart.it)

M.A."I pick-up sono stati fatti apposta?"

M.A. -"che figata"
